Sermon Description

2 Corinthians 4:7-18

  • 7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the exceeding greatness of the power may be of God, and not from ourselves;
    8 we are pressed on every side, yet not straitened; perplexed, yet not unto despair;
    9 pursued, yet not forsaken; smitten down, yet not destroyed;
    10 always bearing about in the body the dying of Jesus, that the life also of Jesus may be manifested in our body.
    11 For we who live are always delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus may be manifested in our mortal flesh.
    12 So then death worketh in us, but life in you.
    13 But having the same spirit of faith, according to that which is written, I believed, and therefore did I speak; we also believe, and therefore also we speak;
    14 knowing that he that raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also with Jesus, and shall present us with you.
    15 For all things are for your sakes, that the grace, being multiplied through the many, may cause the thanksgiving to abound unto the glory of God.
    16 Wherefore we faint not; but though our outward man is decaying, yet our inward man is renewed day by day.
    17 For our light affliction, which is for the moment, worketh for us more and more exceedingly an eternal weight of glory;
    18 while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

 Jeremiah 18:1-8

  • 1 The word which came to Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying,
    2 Arise, and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words.
    3 Then I went down to the potter’s house, and, behold, he was making a work on the wheels.
    4 And when the vessel that he made of the clay was marred in the hand of the potter, he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.
    5 Then the word of Jehovah came to me, saying,
    6 O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith Jehovah. Behold, as the clay in the potter’s hand, so are ye in my hand, O house of Israel.
    7 At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up and to break down and to destroy it;
    8 if that nation, concerning which I have spoken, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them.

2 Timothy 2:20-21

  • 20 Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some unto honor, and some unto dishonor.
    21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified, meet for the master’s use, prepared unto every good work.

Romans 12:1-2

  • 1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service.
    2 And be not fashioned according to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

 Isaiah 64:8

  • 8 But now, O Jehovah, thou art our Father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.
